​​Peter is a surveyor-turned-journalist who edited Building magazine for six years in the Nineties then edited Estates Gazette for 11 years, until 2009. Peter spent the prior 20 years working in construction, including a decade with housebuilder George Wimpey.

 

For seven years Peter wrote a weekly ‘On Property’ page for the Evening Standard. Today he writes a regular column for Property Week. Peter is the author of Planet Property. His latest book, Broken Homes; Britain’s Housing Crisis; Faults Factoids and Fixes is co-written with regeneration expert, Jackie Sadek.

Nick Leslau

Nick Leslau, 64, has been Chairman and Chief Executive of Prestbury group of companies, which has invested in and managed over £10bn of property assets, since he founded it in January 1998. 

 

Nick is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and was co-founder and Chief Executive of Burford Holdings Plc for 13 years until 1997 having created a £1bn net worth company and delivered 1,300% NAV per share growth over a ten year period as a quoted company. 

 

He sat on the board of Max Property Group PLC, which was floated in 2009 and sold to Blackstone for £650m in July 2014.

 

He and his management team floated Secure Income REIT PLC and recently merged the Company with LXI REIT PLC and now London Metric properties PLC creating a business with £6bn of gross assets, where he continues to be one of the largest shareholders and a Non-Executive Director.

 

He has been a director of many quoted and unquoted companies, professional bodies and charity and educational boards has sat on the Bank of England Property Forum for many years and is a director and shareholder of Saracens Rugby Club.

Stephanie joined the global real estate consultancy firm in 2021 to lead the UK business following over 25 years in professional services. Stephanie’s role expanded to incorporate the leadership of JLL’s EMEA Markets Advisory business across EMEA as CEO. 

Stephanie is responsible for driving strategy and results for JLL’s leasing advisory and property management businesses as well as delivering a connected, approach for clients across the UK and EMEA region. JLL’s Markets Advisory business provides critical solutions for clients in a fast-evolving world where real estate decisions are at the forefront of so many discussions. 

In the UK Stephanie has ensured that JLL has the best comprehensive end-to-end offering. Its clients are supported, understanding the opportunities that are available to them now and in the future, with a particular focus on sustainability, technology and business transformation. She is also a strong advocate for employee wellbeing and has pushed forward a number of policies aimed at creating a positive and supportive work environment.   

Under her leadership, the UK business renewed its commitment to its sustainability strategy and goals, with the expansion of its sustainability team and services alongside the introduction of a new sustainability framework. She is continuing this work across the EMEA region and passionately   believes that to achieve net zero carbon commitments, businesses must move beyond words, from strategy to implementation to deliver measurable actions.

Paul Shamplina has spent over 30 years in the legal field helping landlords with problem tenants, with previous experience working as a clerk, private investigator, debt collector and certified bailiff.

​

In 1999, he set up Landlord Action to put this expertise to good use, specialising in fixed-fee property recovery and tenant eviction in England and Wales.  He has acquired a reputation as “The Landlord’s Friend” having co-written two books with fellow property expert, Kate Faulkner, to help landlords manage their properties.

​

Paul is a down to earth Londoner with a great sense of humour who has helped thousands of landlords. He travels the country speaking, giving advice and carrying out regular seminars to landlords and letting agents. Landlord Action has won numerous industry accolades, most recently including Best Landlord Legal Services Provider at the 2022 & 2023 Property Reporter Awards.  Paul also achieved the title of ‘Best Seminar Speaker’ at The National Landlord Investment Show Awards 2023, 2022 & 2019 and ‘Spokesperson of the Year’ at the Property Reporter Awards 2020.

Paul believes passionately in the rights of landlords (and tenants where necessary), and campaigns tirelessly to improve standards throughout the private rented sector. Paul was invited to give evidence to a cross-party Parliamentary Group on the private rented sector in relation to retaliation evictions as part of The Deregulation Act 2015.

Paul has been an active participant in government consultations on the topic of speeding up the eviction process, abolishing Section 21 evictions and housing court reforms, which will form part of the Renters Reform Bill. He is also on the advisory council for the Property Investors Bureau to regulate the property education sector.

 

Paul was particularly instrumental in the law which made squatting a criminal offence from September 2012.

Paul regularly appears in the national press, radio and television.  He has appeared in numerous productions including: BBC’s Breakfast, War at the Door, Meet the Landlords, Inside Out and The One Show, ITV’s Tenants From Hell and Channel 4 News. Most recently, Paul and his team at Landlord Action have featured regularly in Channel Five’s hit series ‘Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords’ (2015 - 2023). Paul has also co-hosted the ‘The Property Hour’ with Clive Bull on LBC Radio, and regularly contributes his expert guidance on TalkTV with Ian Collins, GB News, BBC Radio London’s Drivetime with Eddie Nestor and BBC Radio 2 with Jeremy Vine.

​

Paul has featured in The Times, Daily Telegraph, Independent, Guardian and Daily Mail, as well as numerous other national, regional and local newspapers, offering expert advice and highlighting the plights and success stories within his field.  Stand out success stories include Paul’s recovery of £90,000 rent arrears in a single case and seeing notorious serial subletting scammer, Rose Chimuka, brought to justice.
